Yup! Another adventure! Unfortunately, this time I am on my own without Jasper. I'm heading home to Michigan for my cousin's daughter's wedding. Rather than waiting until morning to depart, I took off about 5pm last night with plans to make it to the boat dock in Wisconsin, and take the ferry across Lake Michigan to about 1.5 hours from my mom's house. As I entered Wisconsin, I received word from my mom that my stepdad had tested positive for COVID, and I would not be able to stay with them. Since I was most of the way there, I continued on my journey.
I love fall in the midwest. The colors are so veautiful. The sunrise as I drove towards Lake Michigan was beautiful. Then began the rain and wind as I neared the ferry docks. I parked on the side of a local road briefly to decide whether to do the ferry or what to do now that I had nowhere to stay.
On good seas I get motion sick. So, getting on the ferry seemed ridiculous to me. Also, my not being able to stay with my mom left me with extra time on my hands; therefore, I headed for the upper peninsula of Michigan. As I headed that way, I reached out to my aunt who lives in Marquette to see about staying with her, and she said yes.
Before heading to my aunt's house, I wanted to visit Lake of the Clouds. I was not sorry I did that. How gorgeous it was with all the fall colors. Somewhere in the background of this photo, with the use of binoculars, you can see the ski jump in the nearby town.
My favorite lake...it is far Superior to any of the other great lakes. She calls to me often and calms my soul.
I got in to my aunt's place in the dark, sat up talking for a bit before my 24+ hour travel finally caught up to me and I headed to bed.
