Southern Border Solo tour

Well, I am off on another tour of the country. This time, I'm headed south to Mississippi to see my mom and stepdad in Biloxi/Ocean Springs. No! Jasper is not coming with on the whole trip, but will make an appearance for a little interlude. It was way too hot in the south for the Siberian Husky.

As I was putting finishing touches on my trip plans, I received a text from my mom that her husband had once again tested positive for COVID. I'm beginning to take it personally, and threatened I would not come to visit them ever again, if they keep pulling this crap. Anyway, I decided I was going to head that way despite their being sick, and wing it like I did this past October for the family wedding in Michigan. That turned out alright...granted I had aunts and family and such in the state for support. Well, who cares, I was going anyway.

So, I left Colorado and enjoyed roadsideamerica.com roadside attractions through Kansas, and found myself on one of their many scenic byways, not real sure what the scenery was supposed to be in early spring, but had fun all the same. Dang was it windy. My focus was on getting to the Natchez Trace Parkway and taking that down to Ocean Springs. The first day saw a lot of Kansas with it's feedlots and windy prairie grasses.

I ended the night at a sketchy Super 8 motel along the highway used mostly by truckers. The front desk gal said they were out of a lot of their breakfast things but they had twinkies and ding dongs. She got me with those, and I made sure to take 1 of each in the morning as I headed back out on the road.
